Agree or disagree, we’re all responsible for what goes on in Washington
The following paraphrases excerpts from a chain-spam floating around the Internet. Among other things, it explains the “perfect storm” of voter power over the next 4 years:
————
In November of 2010 the entire House of Representatives will stand for re-election; all 435 of them. One third of the Senate, a total of 33 of them, will also stand for re-election. Two years later, in 2012, another third of the Senate stands for re-election (along with the White House). In 2014, the final third of the Senate is due for re-election.
————
That’s right, in the next 4 years voters can completely change the face of politics in Washington — or they can leave it alone. YOUR VOTE DECIDES WHAT WILL HAPPEN. Don’t be part of that large swath of apathetic non-voters. If it’s time for a change, vote that way. If it’s better to stay the course, vote that way. BUT VOTE.
To help you make your voices heard, we’ve set up categories for each state with a post of the name of each Governor, Senator, and Representative, so that you can weigh in on whether they should stay or go. Tell everyone what you think about your elected officials.
The spam goes on to suggest that it’s a good time to vote out ALL incumbents and also enact term-limits for all elected offices, but that’s fodder for another post.

Jun 30, 10 at 5:46 amVoting would be all good if it really counted. Machines without paper trails? Anyone with a degree in Computer Science or a Programmer knows such voting machines could easily be rigged to swing a vote to a pre-programmed favor. What we really need is an election reform on a major scale. The election count needs to be in the control of PUBLIC entities and not PRIVATE companies. The electoral college is outdated and needs to be removed from the presidential elections. We MUST have a paper trail for our voting. I’m not saying do away with the electric voting system, but change it so we can prove that votes are counted without bias, without scam or without special interest managing to change the vote counts. Diebold (which is a company that mkes vote machines) has many stakeholders in our government. Check your local representative and see if they have stock or any special interest in Diebold or any other voting machines. You may be shocked at what you find.
